In re: Lisa & Reagan -- I think it's probably simply that they made a lot of money in salary, and that's an easy $300-400K saved in dropping them? (Knopf Books for Young Readers laid off a rockstar-editor friend of mine recently for similar reasons, per her report.)

Yeah I wondered that as well. That plus internal politics (there have to be lots of ppl making huge salaries there, probably in non-editorial roles)
So depressed about Lisa Lucas. She is a rock star with fantastic taste and visionary leadership.
