One of my favorite reads this year was Belt’s edition of Main-Travelled Roads by Hamlin Garland. Who I'd never have found or heard of otherwise. And those works must be public domain. Glad you publish this kind of stuff!
Anne, what happens if I decide to publish a public domain work? Does it become my copyright or is it still available to other publishers? I like the idea of running barefoot through the public domain and gathering titles.

Nah. There's nothing wrong with asking that your stuff be copyrighted, etc. For 50 years after you're dead? Now THAT's a problem; it's not "securing for limited Times" but effectively locking your stuff up forever.
Tom Lehrer, a wonderful satirical song writer, and a retired math professor, put all of his music in the public domain when he recently died. Good for him!
James Agee, as a populist, seems very on point right now.
Would love! But he's not in the PD yet ;(

Hey this makes me SO happy!! Yay!
Def. public domain, and Garland is certainly one I wish more people read.
Wish I had read it sooner, I had it on my shelf a while. Sent it to my son after reading because I thought he’d like it too.

By definition it belongs to the public. So you can publish it but so can anyone else.
Thank you.

Creative Commons used to have a "Founders Copyright" that was 14 years. I thought that was pretty cool. https://wiki.creativecommons.org/wiki/Founders_Copyright
Yeah I know, but it just seemed to stand out more in that post than in others!
I love Creative Commons, and wish it had more reach.
Nancy Drew in the public domain is oddly exciting to me.
Yes!

I did not know that! Love him even more now.
