Sounds like an exciting year! A lot of firsts and a real variety of new works. Heading over to the site now to buy some direct (even though I resemble the remark by @gerard McLean - I don’t ‘need’ any more books this year!!).
Your appeal worked. I just bought Erin Keane’s book after reading the summary, even though o swore I would not buy any more books this year. This is the last one!!! (Probably not, though... I’m a chronic liar 😉)
It came at an interesting time when I’m embroiled in a bunch of debates about the ChatCPT AI writing a bunch of stuff and I’m exploring how we create memories of our childhood, specifically how I’m encountering a lot of mostly white older (JonesGen/GenX) folks who grew up middle class, but have a poverty-origin story that they have created and told so often and long that it has become their truth. It’s a million tiny pieces or our newest Ohio senator’s story... or ... Gilmore Girls.
AI has the potential of creating false memories at a depth and speed where we begin to not know what is real and what isn’t, a memory from an experienced from a false memory ... it’s a challenge now in memoir and this generation will prove it to be an even bigger challenge.
Well, this comment got longer than I intended, my apologies. Just dropped by to say I bought a book! 😁
Congrats. Sounds like a great year!
