There are currently 8,326 webinars being held about the new federal programs to help small businesses. These are helpful additions to the 12,932 listserv discussions ongoing about the same topic. For those still looking for well-meaning, confusing, often misleading, and anxious guidance, there are DMs, tweets, FB groups, and probably a YouTube video or two.
Me, I have spent much of the week reading about these two programs, and yet I am absolutely no expert. Nor, I think, are many of those leading the webinars, or the accountants and lawyers currently advising clients. These programs are simply too new—applications for the PPP aren’t even ready yet—for anyone to be an expert on them.
Tomorrow, after I (hopefully) apply for the PPP, I am going to write about these programs, and the differing opportunities and stresses they offer independent publishers, booksellers, and writers, in more depth.
