I thought about skipping this week’s newsletter. To simply have this thought marks a significant milestone, because for the past month, I was composing this newsletter in my head as I went about my days, trying to figure out how one does, in fact, run a small press during a pandemic. But this week, I sense that we might have peaked the anxiety curve, and I can sort of peer down an other side, though it remains blurry.

Our store continues to receive far more traffic than usual, helping mitigate losses from our distributor. We signed up a few new Parafine Press projects. And on Wednesday, the SBA deposited money into our checking account! Going to check your bank account and seeing a higher balance than you expected, and realizing it was from the federal government?!?! That was a new experience. It is from the EIDL application I submitted in a frenzy, and mistakenly, thinking it was the PPP.

And then the best part: a gorgeous review of Phil Christman’s Midwest Futures in The Washington…
